As already written, I checked the user rights as well and it absolutely comparable to those within FS9 (no wonder, the files have been just copied). In FS9 everything works fine. I think I'll wait for Hans stepping in. I'm tired of de-installing and re-installing again. I do have some other nice aircraft to fly around with. I'm just trying to evolve in flying PMDG's J-41 which appears to be really charming bird but quite complicated as well. Thanks Axel. I was just wondering if UAC running in the background may interfere (in some instances) when trying to write or call files. It can certainly interfere when either down loading or installing. That was my reasoning behind my request. My problem is I don't suffer from any of the problems that many do and I run it in Win 7 *64. When I installed (disc) I turned everything off uac, virus checker, firewall etc. I installed the disc version then down loaded & installed the update from Flight1. I always turn everything off when installing and don't get many problems. With the ATR it was the flightplan problem and Tex-o-matic wouldn't work. David, I did not disable UAC but I used the MS Compatibility Administrator to runs fsx.exe "as invoker" which even works for really old applications. Unfortunately with no avail.

I have just had a thought. As most now run Win 7. As an experiment would you all, those that are having problems that is, disable UAC and try to run a flight and load/save a flight plan? I sent a note off to Hans the other day to chime in here on some of the In Progress issues to offer any additional assistance.  He is out of town currently, but said he would be back here to help if he can on these outstanding issues when he returns.
 
Also, those users that are having issues need to make sure they have their system in tip top shape.  Most of these issues stem from the user system configuration.  We have sold 1000s of copies of this product and 99% of them run the software without issue. Some of these issues are definitely on the user side and it is up to them to make sure they have the files and updates of the OS, drivers, etc. to make addons work correctly in flight sim.
 
Thanks for the update Jeff good to know you have "still a couple of devs we can tap into from time to time to respond here".  Even better to know that Hans is back and that he will " chime in here on some of the In Progress issues to offer any additional assistance."  I can't wait to find out if there is any news on the long awaited fix for the LNAV bug:

Good news is that I learned that a friend of mine can reproduce the problem on his PC. I will visit him and do a flight with the debugger running in the background. I hope that this will help to finally find a reason for this strange behavior.
I think this was back in the middle of September 2011 so I guess he must have news by now; can't wait!

Turn off DX 10 preview. Install fsx SP2. Start by using the free startup for complex aircraft. It's available on page one of this forum.
