There are some circumstances that cause any changes made with the configuration manager to not have any effect. These circumstances are:
a) you run Windows Vista on your PC
and
b) you have FS9/FSX installed to the default path ("C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X")

First the reason: Vista protects several folder from changes made by normal users. "C:\Program Files" is one of those, so all changes you make are being written to "C:\Users\[Your Alias]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Flight One Software\Flight One ATR 72-500\ATR.cfg" instead of the "real" ATR.cfg. The ATR doesn't check that folder so it can only access the original, unchanged ATR.cfg in the Program Files folder.

There are three solutions to this problem.
The simple one: Run the ATR configuration manager as Administrator. This gives you the rights, necessary to change the correct ATR.cfg file. To do so, just right-click the configuration manager icon on your desktop and select "Run as Administrator".
Also make sure to delete the ATR.cfg from the VirtualStore folder.

The complex one: Don't install FS9/FSX into it's default folder. The best solution would be to use a separate harddisk and/or partition like i.e. D:\FSX. Of course this solution requires a reinstall of your FS.

The third solution is only recommended to experienced users who really know what they're doing at all times. Therefore I won't describe it in detail. Grant "Full Access" and "Change" rights on the "Program Files" folder to the group "Users". Of course this compromises Vista's security but as I said: you know what you're doingWink

The same problem can occur while saving FMC flightplans.

This is not required if you installed SP1 for the ATR for FSX (not available yet).

Best regards,
Hans
